TRACK AND FIELD ADVISORY COMMITTEE                                                     

Held June 2, 2011

 

1.*  Recommend that Sectional-Plus Qualifying Standards be put on the agenda as an item for the Board to consider at the September 2011 meeting.  Banta will be available to answer additional questions for the Board as needed.  If approved, the system would take effect in the 2012-13 track season.

2.**  Recommend that an exhibition period of three years be implemented for the Javelin/Turbo Javelin in high school track and field competition, starting with the 2012-13 school year.

3. Recommend that a $50 fine (maximum $500 per team) be implemented for the 2011-12 school year for each change needed to be made to the TRXC Timing website after the 4:00 p.m. Wednesday before the meet deadline.

4. Recommend that the order on the District Track Meet Time Schedule be changed to keep the girl/boy sequence all the way through and follow the state series order for that year starting with the 2011-12 season.

5. Recommend that “4x800m Relay (Optional)” be added to the recommended running order for middle school track races in the 2011-12 Track and Field Manual.

6. Recommend that Track and Field remains with the Modified Equal Enrollment Break option for Track and Field with Class 4 being the top 96 schools and the remaining schools divided equally into Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3.

7. Recommend that the procedure as stated in the Track and Field Manual [Sectional 7-D-2(b)] for the one-day procedure by using times and not places at sectionals to heat the meet be kept in place.
