MSHSAA Board Meeting Summary: Sept. 16-17, 2026
9/18/2026
COLUMBIA — The Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Board of Directors met Sept. 16-17 at the MSHSAA office for its regularly scheduled board meeting.

New MSHSAA Board Member and Roles

MSHSAA is pleased to welcome one new board member, who officially joined on July 1.
  • Dr. Lori Wilson, superintendent of Ozark School District (Southwest District)

Additionally, Craig Gibbs, principal at Valle Catholic High School, is the new president of the Board, while Korey Miles, superintendent for Mound City School District, will serve as vice president.

Future MSHSAA Championship Venues

The Board voted to award the following venues as the hosts for future MSHSAA Championships.
  • Football Show-Me Bowl: Spratt Stadium | St. Joseph | 2029-30
  • Basketball Show-Me Showdown: Mizzou Arena | Columbia | 2029-31
  • Girls Wrestling Championships: Hearnes Center | Columbia | 2030-31
  • Boys Wrestling Championships: Mizzou Arena | Columbia | 2030-31
  • Girls Volleyball Championships: Show Me Center | Cape Girardeau | 2028-30
  • Boys Volleyball Championships: Show Me Center | Cape Girardeau | 2029-31
  • Speech & Debate Championships: Missouri State University | Springfield | 2027
  • Speech & Debate Championships: Lincoln University | Jefferson City | 2028-31
  • Theatre Championships: Miller Performing Arts Center and Lincoln University | Jefferson City | 2027-31

All MSHSAA championship and festival venue contracts are now aligned to conclude following the 2030-31 school year, paving the way for a new, streamlined championship bidding process.

Last December, the MSHSAA Board of Directors approved a shift from individual, event-specific Requests for Proposals (RFPs) with five-year terms to a unified RFP process operating on three-year cycles. Beginning in January 2029, communities will have the opportunity to submit proposals for multiple MSHSAA championships and festivals through a single process.

“This new approach will make the bidding process more efficient for both MSHSAA and the communities interested in hosting our championships,” MSHSAA Executive Director Dr. Jennifer Rukstad said. “It also gives communities greater flexibility to look across our championship calendar and put together proposals that showcase how they can partner with MSHSAA to host multiple events.”

Membership Engagement Survey

From Sept. 21 through Oct. 2, MSHSAA will be asking our member schools to participate in a Membership Feedback Survey as a part of our strategic planning process. The survey will be sent to administrators at all member schools. The Board is very interested in hearing from our member schools as we look toward the future of the Association.

MSHSAA TV Postseason Pricing Update

The Board approved the framework for a new pricing model for MSHSAA TV postseason broadcasts. We will announce the new model in the coming weeks.
