Terry Kasper was presented with the Mal Mayse Distinguished Service Award during the 2026 MSHSAA Baseball Championships, recognizing a career spanning more than three decades in education and a lifelong commitment to high school athletics in Missouri.
The Mal Mayse Distinguished Service Award honors individuals whose dedication and service have made a lasting impact on interscholastic activities across the state. Kasper’s career as a teacher, coach, administrator and longtime contributor to MSHSAA championship events reflects that commitment.
Kasper devoted 32 years to the Francis Howell School District, serving in a variety of roles including teacher, coach, department chair, assistant principal and activities director. He spent 16 years teaching physical education and health, followed by leadership roles that included three years as department chair and three years as assistant principal at Francis Howell High School.
From 1998 to 2010, Kasper served as activities director at Francis Howell Central High School, where he helped oversee and support a wide range of student activities and athletic programs. His impact extended well beyond administration, with a strong foundation in coaching.
As head baseball coach at Francis Howell High School for 13 years, Kasper led his program to two Final Four appearances, finishing second in 1991 and third in 1993. He also contributed as an assistant coach in football, softball, basketball and baseball, demonstrating a broad commitment to student-athletes across multiple sports.
Kasper’s service to MSHSAA has continued well beyond his time in school administration. He has worked the MSHSAA Baseball Championships for more than a decade, assisting with tournament operations and contributing to the success of one of the Association’s premier events. He also assisted with the MSHSAA Football Championships when they were held in St. Louis.
Throughout his career, Kasper has been recognized with numerous honors, including induction into multiple halls of fame, such as the Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame, the St. Louis Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame, and the Francis Howell School District Hall of Fame.
