MSHSAA Recognizes MU School of Music with the Mal Mayse Distinguished Service Award
The University of Missouri School of Music was presented with the Mal Mayse Distinguished Service Award during the 74th State Music Festival. Interim Director Brian Silvey accepted the award on behalf of the School of Music.
The Mal Mayse Distinguished Service Award honors individuals and organizations whose lifelong commitment has made a lasting impact on interscholastic activities across the state.
The MU School of Music has played an integral role in the success of the State Music Festival for decades. As the host site, the school provides facilities that allow thousands of Missouri students the opportunity to perform in a premier collegiate setting. In addition to hosting the event, the School of Music assists with the complex scheduling of performances, helping coordinate thousands of student entries ranging from vocal to instrumental events.
MU students further support the festival by serving as volunteers, assisting with event operations and helping ensure a smooth and successful experience for participants, directors and adjudicators.
MSHSAA’s partnership with the MU School of Music has been vital in delivering a first-class State Music Festival year after year, providing meaningful performance opportunities for students across Missouri.
