MSHSAA Board Meeting Summary: June 18, 2025

COLUMBIA – The Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Board of Directors convened for its regularly scheduled meeting on June 18 at the MSHSAA office in Columbia. The Board addressed a range of topics impacting member schools across the state.

Senate Bill 63 Special Ballot

The Board approved a special ballot to respond to Senate Bill 63. Member schools will have the opportunity to vote from August 11-22 on amending MSHSAA by-laws to ensure full compliance with the new state law, pending the governor’s signature.

2025 Annual Ballot Results

The Board certified the results of the 2025 Annual Ballot, which includes the recognition of Unified Track & Field and Girls Flag Football as emerging sports.

Football Show-Me Bowl: Instant Replay Procedures Approved

Beginning this season, instant replay will be implemented for Football Show-Me Bowl games only. The replay system is intended to correct obvious and potentially game-changing errors — not to re-officiate routine plays.

Officials Pay Increase

The Board voted to approve a pay increase for officials across all sports in the postseason.

Wrestling Championships: New Format in 2027

Effective with the 2026-27 school year, the Boys and Girls Wrestling Championships will be held on separate weekends, and both will be on the campus of the University of Missouri.

Baseball/Softball Postseason Procedures

The Board approved an amendment to the baseball and softball postseason procedures allowing for postseason games interrupted by weather to be played out to a full seven innings. Both teams can mutually agree to end the game earlier, as per NFHS end-of-game procedures.

Other Notes

In addition, the Board approved other recommendations from the Basketball, Golf, Music, Officials, Speech & Debate, Theatre, Sports Medicine and Track & Field Advisory Committees. Specific information on those Board actions will be available here in the future.

The Board also celebrated the contributions of Kevin Smith, superintendent of Lincoln School District, representing the Central District and Mark Linneman, athletic director at Lutheran South High School, representing the St. Louis District. Both members’ service will end in July after their terms expire. The Board is scheduled to meet again in September.
