MSHSAA Recognizes Show Me Center with the Mal Mayse Distinguished Service Award

The Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) is proud to announce the Show Me Center has been named a recipient of the Mal Mayse Distinguished Service Award. This prestigious honor recognizes exceptional service and commitment to interscholastic athletics and activities in Missouri.

MSHSAA presented the award to Wil Gorman, who serves as the general manager for the Show Me Center, during the MSHSAA Boys Volleyball championship game on Wednesday, May 28.

For more than a decade, the Show Me Center has served as a vital partner in the hosting of MSHSAA championships and high school sporting events. Since 2011, the venue has been home to the MSHSAA Girls Volleyball Championships, offering a premier tournament experience for student-athletes, coaches and fans from across the state. The arena’s exceptional facilities, professional staff and strong commitment to student experiences have made it a consistent and reliable host site for events of statewide significance.

The Show Me Center was recently announced as the site of the MSHSAA Boys Volleyball Championships through the 2027-28 school year. These events not only showcase high school talent but also bring significant economic and cultural value to the Cape Girardeau region.

Opened in 1987, the Show Me Center is a multi-purpose arena with a seating capacity of more than 7,000. It serves as the home court for the Southeast Missouri State University Redhawks and hosts a variety of events, including concerts, conventions and athletic competitions.
