Tim Gilbert, a longtime supporter and dedicated volunteer of the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA), is the latest recipient of the prestigious Mal Mayse Distinguished Service Award. He received his award at the 2025 MSHSAA Wrestling Championships at Mizzou Arena. This recognition is a testament to his unwavering commitment to the success of high school athletics, particularly in the sport of wrestling.
A graduate of Hallsville High School, Tim has dedicated over 25 years of his life as a journeyman lineman in the Columbia area. His technical expertise is backed by a degree in Design Drafting from State Technical College of Missouri in Linn. Beyond his professional work, Tim's passion for service has taken him across the world. He has traveled to Haiti and Bolivia to aid in building power lines and training locals to maintain them, ensuring that communities have the necessary infrastructure to thrive.
In Missouri, Tim’s impact is deeply felt in the wrestling community. A fixture in the Centralia Wrestling Club for over two decades, he has played an instrumental role in supporting young athletes. His service extends to the state wrestling tournament, where he has been an integral part of its operations for more than 15 years. Starting as a mat technician, he later took on the role of a weigh-in official, then a runner, and eventually became the weigh-in coordinator. Today, he continues to manage mat technicians and runners, always ensuring the tournament operates smoothly. His willingness to take on any role necessary showcases his dedication to the sport and its athletes.
Tim's dedication extends beyond his professional and volunteer work—his greatest joy comes from his family. Married to his wife, Krista, for nearly 32 years, Tim cherishes time spent with his son, Dakota, and his daughter, Elizabeth, along with her husband, Barrett, and their young son, Henry.
