TRACK AND FIELD ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Held June 10, 2014
1. Recommended changing the 75m to 100m for junior high school girls.
Rationale: To better prepare the athletes for high school competition.
2. Recommended that the 800m be run with 16 athletes on the track for a one year trial period.
Rationale: Had no problems in Classes 1 & 2 this year. Have the technology to capture the finish line. Currently the 3200m relay is ran all in one heat-16 on the track.
3. Recommend that during the regular season schools can add the 100m, 400m, and shot put for students with accommodations following Para-Olympic instructions.
Rationale: More options for the schools to accommodate those with special needs.
4. Recommend setting up a Performance List with the assistance of TRXC at the cost of $500 per Class. Host schools for regular season meets would be required to submit the results within 72 hours to TRXC.
Rationale: A better procedure for tracking yearly performances and a better process for footnoting district entries.
5. Recommend to allow a 6-lane track at districts if all schools agree.
Rationale: 8-lane tracks allow for fewer prelims and therefore less races in one day for a sprinter. However if all schools agree then procedures for a 6-lane track can be used both for the running and the field events.
