Holt Invitational Team Tennis Tournament

What is it?
? 16 schools that will first compete in pool play at one of four sites, and then be placed into a
tournament style bracket based on results of pool play.
? We feel it will be a great opportunity to increase the number of matches our student athletes are
able to play during the season, and give them a chance to play schools they don’t normally run
into during the regular season.
When is it?
? Pool play will begin at 1:00 pm on Friday April 5th, 2024.
? Championship & Consolation rounds will begin at 9:00am on Saturday April 6th, 2024.
Format
? 16 Teams total
? Schools will be guaranteed at least 4 matches, with a maximum of 6.
? Each team will need to provide 15 Cans of Tennis Balls
Day 1 (4/5/24) – Pool Play
? 4 pools of 4 teams each playing at Holt High School, North Point High School, Liberty High School
or Timberland High School
? Each team will play the other 3 in their pool.
? Pool play will be a standard 6-3 match with 6 singles players and 3 doubles teams.
? Teams will play ONE 6 game set no ad scoring (WIN BY 2) with a 7 point tiebreak at 6-6, at each
spot starting with doubles. Scoring will be for BOTH singles and doubles.
? First team to 5 individual victories wins the match. We will stop matches after 5 is reached.
Day 2 (4/6/24) – Championship/Consolation Bracket Play (Holt/North Point)
? The top two teams from each pool will be placed into a Championship Bracket, while the bottom
two teams from each will be placed into a Consolation Bracket.
? The Championship bracket will play at one site and the Consolation at another.
? First two rounds are a standard 6-3 match with 6 singles players and 3 doubles teams.
? Teams will play ONE 6 game set no ad scoring (WIN BY 2) with a 7 point tiebreak at 6-6, at each
spot starting with doubles. Scoring will be for BOTH singles and doubles.
? First team to 5 individual victories wins the match. We will stop matches after 5 is reached.
? Championship AND 3rd place matches in the CHAMPIONSHIP BRACKET will be 8 game pro sets
with Ad scoring, win by 2 with a 7-point tiebreaker being played to determine the winner. 8-8.
? There will be awards for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams in the championship bracket and for 1st
place in the Consolation bracket.
