KAUFFMAN NAMED MSHSAA DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS

Columbia, Mo. - The Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) is pleased to announce Andrew Kauffman as the next Director of Communications. Kauffman, the current Director of Marketing and Communications for Special Olympics of Missouri, brings experience and leadership in sports journalism and communications to serve the member schools of MSHSAA.

A native of Arizona, Kauffman attended the University of Missouri and earned a degree in Journalism. He served as a sports anchor and reporter for KOMU (NBC) and later KMIZ (ABC), both in Columbia. In 2017, he became the Sports Director for KMIZ, and while there, won awards for storytelling, anchored nightly sportscasts, and hosted a weekly 30-minute sports show. Under Kauffman, the station held the top spot in the market, and Kauffman was known regionally for his exceptional coverage of high school sports. In 2022, he joined Special Olympics of Missouri where he grew the organizations communications dramatically, in the areas of social media, strategic communications, content, and high yield resource allocation.

Kauffman will join MSHSAA in April, working alongside Jason West, who will finish 16 years as the Association’s Director of Communications in June.
