4. Recommended that the policy for the
selection of state meet dive judges be modified to allow members of the
Swimming Advisory Committee to select individuals that have a strong expertise
in diving to judge at the state meet.
[Currently, advisory committee members may only select active
interscholastic swimming or diving coaches to judge diving at the state meet.]
* 5. Recommended that one statewide coaches
association per sport, which is recognized by MSHSAA, be allowed to present up
to four awards at the MSHSAA State Championship for the sport concerned.
6. Recommended to the Handbook Review Committee
that By-Law 162 be amended (Annual Ballot) to indicate that all interscholastic
swim meets (despite level) be required to utilize at least one registered
swimming official.
*** 7. Amended: Recommended that the following short
course events be allowed only at invitational, varsity meets as a Missouri State Adoption (as per NFHS Rule
5-1-1a), at the discretion of the host school.
Participation would count as an event toward the allowable number of
events per individual and a first-leg performance in a RELAY that meets the state qualifying standard (only when
fully automatic timing [FAT] is used) could count as a qualifying time for the
corresponding shorter event. This
adoption would be allowed on an experimental basis for two years, and will be
revisited by the Advisory Committee and the Board of Directors in the spring of
2012.
Events:
200 Butterfly
200 Backstroke
200 Breaststroke
400 Individual Medley
1000 Free
800 Free Relay
400 Medley Relay
*** 8. Amended: Recommended that All-Relay Invitational Meets be allowed as a Missouri State
Adoption (as per NFHS Rule 5-1-1a); such meets would include relay events only.
