Summary of the Soccer Advisory Committee Meeting held on June 7, 2006, Columbia

1.    Recommend that an item be placed on the 2007 MSHSAA Questionnaire to amend MSHSAA By-Law 325 a6 and 325 c4 that would add a third scheduling option for boys and girls soccer of 20 games 1 tournament. (approved)

2. Recommend that the Class 2 boys Quarterfinal game for Districts 1 and 2 winners rotate site location between St. Louis and southeast Missouri. (approved)

3.    Recommend that goalkeeper protection and safety under current NFHS Soccer Rules be included as an MSHSAA point of emphasis at the fall 2006 and spring 2007 rules meetings for officials and coaches. (approved)

4.    Recommend that a special report should be filed by officials to the MSHSAA office on schools who do not provide the red/yellow summary cards and schools should file a special report on officials to MSHSAA who refuse to use the red/yellow summary cards. (approved)

5.    Recommend that a survey be submitted by all schools that play boys and girls soccer that summarizes their red and yellow cards for the season. The summary should also include the number of athletes suspended and how many games were missed by athletes and coaches due to the accumulation of yellow cards. (approved)

6.    Went on record in support of the Officials Advisory Committee’s recommendation to implement a Soccer Officials Observers Program beginning the 2006-07 school year. (approved)

7.    Recommend that the State Championship game proceed to penalty kicks to determine the State Champion if one is not determined at the conclusion of the fourth 10 minute overtime period. (approved)
