Summary of MSHSAA Football Advisory Committee Minutes
Held December 11, 2008 at the MSHSAA Office
1. Recommend that the starting time for the
8-Man Championship game at the Dome be moved from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
2. Recommend that the 8-Man quarterfinal and
semifinal games be played on Fridays at 7:00 p.m. instead of Saturdays at 1:30
p.m.

Recommend that the competing schools have the discretion to determine
the
appropriate age and grade level of the ball
persons for all games.

competing school administration have the
discretion to determine the appropriate age
and grade level for all sideline
personnel (ball persons, statisticians, water
persons, etc.) for all games.
4. Recommend that the criteria for the
districting process be confirmed to be geographics and conference affiliation
provided the entire conference schedule can be completed. If the entire conference schedule
cannot be completed, then geographics would become the only criteria.
5. Recommend that for Saturday playoff
contests, the starting time of 1:30 p.m. may be moved to 2:30 p.m. at
the discretion of the visiting team provided they travel 150 or more miles to
the site and the host site has lights.
6. Recommend that the following statement be
deleted from the MSHSAA Manual because it has become obsolete: “Field phones shall be provided for both
teams or if they are not available, the “visiting” team shall be advised of
this well in advance of the game.”
7. Recommend the MSHSAA Office submit a
Football Rules Change Proposal Form to eliminate the following wording from
Rule 9-8-3: “A maximum of three coaches may be in the coaches’ area.”
