Summary of the Basketball Advisory Committee Meeting held April 21, 2006, Columbia

1.    Went on record to oppose NFHS Proposition 11 regarding proposed rule change in 4-10 (a closely guarded situation not to include dribbling). (Approved)

2.    Went on record to oppose NFHS Proposition 23 to adopt the use of a 35 or 30 second shot clock. (Approved)

3.    Went on record to support National Federation Proposition 25 to permit game officials to use courtside replay equipment during state championships. (Approved)

4.    Recommend that sectional and quarterfinal sites be chosen before district sites are

determined. When possible, unless deemed necessary because of unusual

circumstances, district sites will be different than sectional and quarterfinal sites for

the teams participating. (Denied)

5.    Recommend that sectional, quarterfinal, semifinal, and final games use three man

officiating crews for Classes 1-5. During district play, the use of three man officiating

crews for Classes 1, 2, and 3 would be optional.

Amended: Recommend that an item be placed on the Annual Questionnaire regarding

the use of three man officiating crews for sectional, quarterfinal, semifinal, and final

games for Classes 1, 2, and 3. (Approved as amended)

6.    Recommend to allow the same officiating crew to officiate more than one game a

night during the district tournaments for Classes 1, 2, and 3.

8.    Went on record to support not having the same officials for state semifinal and final
