June 2002 Meeting Summary

1. Recommend to change the language in the number of contests permitted, in the spring only, from games to dates because of spring weather causing so many games to be rained out and the inability to reschedule many of those games. (Denied)

2. Recommend that the highest seed in the district tournament have the choice of home or visitor instead of flipping a coin. (Tabled)

3. Recommend that all hosts in the state baseball post season series shall charge the set MSHSAA admission. Any site not charging admission shall be responsible for all expenses incurred, not limited to but including workers, umpires, manager’s fee, field preparation expenses, etc. (Tabled as amended)

4. Went on record encouraging coaches, administrators and officials to take an active role in the prevention of unsportsmanlike materials on internet message boards. By being proactive in this matter, schools can help address this evolving trend in a manner that is consistent with the educational mission of Missouri’s interscholastic programs. (Approved)

5. Recommend that pitchers shall not use the game mound during pre-game infield practice. (Approved)
