Summary of MSHSAA Baseball Advisory Committee
Held June 14, 2010
Y 1. Recommend that the following changes be made
to the 2010-2011 MSHSAA Baseball Manual (changes underlined) regarding the
starting and ending dates of the district tournaments:
a)
Starting date: District tournament games shall be played no
earlier than the Wednesday of week #45 and must conclude by Saturday of
week #46. The mandatory (weather
permitting) start date for the district tournament shall be Saturday of week
#45. Note: A district with 5 teams or a district with
more than 8 teams may play a pigtail bracket game(s) on Friday of week #45.
T 2. Recommend that pitchers be allow only ten
innings in district play, Sectionals-Quarterfinals and State
Championships. (I recommend that with
our new technology that we survey all baseball playing schools this fall with a
survey on this question)
N 3. Recommend that an item be placed on the 2011
MSHSAA Annual Ballot to amend MSHSAA By-Law 326 a1 and c1 to change the term
“games” to “contest dates” and allow multiple games to occur on “contest
dates”.
