NFHS Spirit Association Membership Information



The NFHS Spirit Association is a professional organization for coaches of junior high and high school spirit groups (cheerleaders, dance, pom pons, and winter guard). The annual membership fee is available at a minimal cost. Objectives of the NFHS Spirit Association are to:



* Promote safety awareness of all spirit team participants.


* Promote sportsmanship and good citizenship through participation in spirit groups.


* Provide opportunities for professional development.


* Provide guidelines for spirit programs.


* Provide information on coaching and judging spirit performances.


* Recognize, support and promote spirit programs.



 

NFHS Spirit Association is one of six professional service organization under the National Federation umbrella. Other Federation organizations are the NFHS Athletic Administrators Association, NFHS Coaches Association, NFHS Officials Association, NFHS Music Association, and the NFHS Speech, Debate and Theatre Association. Among the membership benefits available through NFHS Spirit Association is personal liability insurance protection. Coaches of cheerleader, dance, pom pon and winter guard groups are covered during the time they are acting in the capacity of a coach of a school-approved cheerleader, dance, pom pon or winter guard activity. To be eligible for the insurance coverage, spirit groups must adhere to the National Federation Spirit Rules and be in compliance with the MSHSAA Cheer and Dance Regulations.



Other membership benefits for are direct representation on the National Federation Spirit Committee, professional development through a National Federation Leadership Conference and subscription to the Coaches' Quarterly Magazine.
