June 4, 2009 Meeting Summary

* 1.    Recommend that an item be placed on the Annual Questionnaire to determine if schools registered for senior high track and field favor adding the 1600 meter medley relay (200 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters) as an official MSHSAA event beginning with the 2011 track season, with the relay being conducted as the first event of a meet and in lanes for the first four turns.

*** 2.    Recommend that sectional track and field meets be scored and plaques awarded to the team champions beginning with the 2010 track season.

* 3.    Recommend that the deadline for district track and field entries be changed from 4:00 p.m. on the Monday prior to the meet to 7:00 p.m. on the Monday prior to the meet.

4.    Recommend that a set time schedule be required to be used for all running events at all sectional track and field meets.

5.    Recommend that an item be placed on the Annual Questionnaire to determine if schools registered for senior high track and field favor changing the advancement and seeding procedures for the finals of the running events at the state meet from the top two places from each heat and the next four fastest times to the first place finisher from each heat and the next six fastest times starting with the 2011 track and field season.

* 6.    Recommend that, if worn, socks must be the same solid color on each foot/leg; that the number and size of logos shall not apply; and that no two members of a relay team must wear the same color of socks.
