Held Thursday, November 9, 2006

1.    Recommend that MSHSAA place volleyball documents (scoresheet, tracking sheet, stats sheets, line-up sheets, rosters) on-line when possible in a down-loadable fashion (pdf or word). (approved)

2.    Recommended that the home school be required to supply or make arrangements for the assistant scorer (libero tracker) and the tracking sheet. (approved)

3.    Recommended that Missouri schools be allowed to play either the 3/5 format or the 2/3 format only at the varsity level during the regular season in dual competition (not in triangulars, quads or tournaments) but that the current 2/3 format be used in the district and state series until a majority of volleyball playing schools support moving the district and state series to the 3/5 format. Such support would be monitored annually through the Annual Questionnaire process. (approved)

4.    Recommended that a survey regarding the 4-3-3-5-5 warm-up proposal be sent to volleyball coaches in their 2007-08 Rulebook packet and that the results be reviewed by the committee at the 2007 meeting to consider a possible recommendation to the Board. (4 minutes combined, 3 minutes visitor, 3 minutes home, 5 minutes visitor, 5 minutes home, with serving as desired to be completed within each team’s allotted time.) (approved)

5.    Recommended that the State Volleyball Tie-Breaking Procedures be amended to no longer consider point differentials in a tie between seeds 2 and 3. (approved)

6.    Recommended that the State Volleyball Championships be hosted by the Kansas City Sports Commission at Municipal Auditorium as soon as the facility is available and terms can be finalized. (approved)

7.    Recommended that the MSHSAA staff alter the district assignments on a rotating basis (north/south grouping vs. east/west grouping), when possible, while continuing to use the two criteria (geographic proximity and numerical balance) that governs this process. (approved)

8.    Recommended that two teams qualify for sectionals from each district, and that sectional play be altered from straight bracket play to pool play that qualifies to a sectional bracket, where one team would qualify to the state tournament. The state tournament bracket and procedures would not change. (denied and referred back to Volleyball Advisory Committee for further discussion)
