Golf Advisory Summary May 27, 2009

Y    1. Recommend the Golf Rules Test and Answers be placed on the MSHSAA Website.

D    2. Recommend the fees for all state golf courses be set at $70 per individual.

Y    3. Recommend golf shirts designed to be tucked in, shall be tucked in and hats shall be worn facing forward with the brim down. First-time offense is a warning, second-time offense a 2 stroke penalty, and third-time offense disqualification.

Y    4. Recommend the following formula for advancement from the district tournament to the sectional tournament beginning in 2010-11:

Each sectional tournament will be comprised of the following place finishers from two predetermined districts: The top two teams from each district advance to sectionals. The top 15 individuals (plus ties) advance to sectionals. Schools that qualify 4 or more individuals may compete in the team portion of the sectional tournament.

Y    5. Recommend the following formula for advancement from the sectional round to the State Championships:

From each of the 4 sectional sites: The top two teams and 12 individual qualifiers (plus ties).

•    If a team qualifies 4 or more individuals they may compete in the team portion of the state tournament.

•     If a school represented by four individual qualifiers (from districts) places first or second in the sectional, those four individuals must represent the school in the state tournament in the team competition. They may not add a fifth player.

Y    6. Recommend that the odd numbered districts select the sectional host and site during odd numbered years and even number districts select the sectional host and site for even numbered years.

Y    7. Recommend that no team may compete on the same golf course more than once during the MSHSAA POST SEASON.. (Example: A team cannot play Districts and Sectionals or Districts and State or Sectionals and State on the Same Course.)
