Golf Advisory Summary May 26, 2010

    1.  Recommended that the Golf Manual include the following information for District and Sectional Golf Managers: “The golf course shall be properly marked prior to the tournament.  Hazards, Out of Bounds, abnormal ground conditions, and obstructions shall be properly marked and included on the Notice to Competitors and local rules shall be clearly stated.”

    2.  Recommended that “Markers” be used at the Sectional Tournaments.

    3.  Recommended the following method of pairing golfers be used for Sectionals:
        A) The four teams that qualified by placing first or second in their respective districts shall be paired together at the Sectional tournament.  
        B) The individual qualifiers shall be paired according to their district score in relation to par from lowest to highest with no two players from the same team paired together.

    4.  Recommended the following items be included as survey items when MSHSAA surveys golf coaches.
             A) Should the 10 stroke rule be used at the District Tournament?
           B)  Should “Markers” be used at Districts? Sectionals? State?
             C)  Should Teams be paired together both days of the State Tournament?

    5.  Recommended medals be awarded to the top 15 individuals plus ties at the District contest.
