First Year Non-Faculty Coaches

• If this is your first year to coach at a MSHSAA school as a non-faculty coach, you have one year to meet the coach’s education requirements.

Second Year Non-Faculty Coaches

•   If this is your second year to coach at a MSHSAA school, you must complete the coach’s education before you can be approved.

• Hardship forms are required for coaches with UNDER 60 College hours: 2011 Hardship Form Application

1.  MSHSAA By-Laws  (this course is free of charge)

• The By-Laws Course is located in the Online Rules Review section of the MSHSAA website. Once you take this course, you need do nothing further; your record will be updated. 

2.  NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching   (there is a $75.00 fee for this course)

1.  Please go to www.nfhslearn.com  

2.  Register by clicking “Register” in the upper right-hand corner and provide the requested information.  You pick your own username and password for this site.

3.  If you are already registered, simply click SIGN IN and use your sign-in information.

4.  Click on “courses” in the red banner at the top of the page.

5.  Select the courses you want to purchase and click “purchase” and “I am purchasing a course for myself.”

6.  Follow screen prompts.

• We read the results each morning; no need to do anything further.

3.  First Aid  (the NFHS First Aid for Coaches Course is $75.00)

• You can take the first aid course through www.nfhslearn.com  by following the directions above for the Fundamentals of Coaching course.
• There are other online courses approved; please contact your Athletic Director.
• If you take a course through Red Cross or American Heart Association, please give your Athletic Director a copy of your card.  He will then enter the date you took the course online so that you show current first aid.

• Rules Reviews are specific to each sport and must be completed by all coaches.
• Rules Review are only available to coaches during certain times (usally starting around first practice and ending around first possible contest date), these dates can be viewed on the About Tab of the MSHSAA website.
• When open, this will be located in the "Online Rules Review” section located on your school’s page (last link on the bottom right-hand side of the page).
