Stahl Named Assistant Director
Plattsburg AD becomes newest member of MSHSAA Executive Staff.
Columbia, Mo.- The Missouri State High School Activities Association Board of Directors has added a member to the executive staff, as voted upon at its January meeting. Current Athletic Director at Plattsburg High School, Greg Stahl will join the staff as an Assistant Executive Director.
Stahl began his teaching career as a middle school science instructor for the Morgan County R-II School District and Versailles Middle School. In addition to his teaching duties, he served as the head coach for the high school wrestling and baseball teams, as well as the middle school football teams. Stahl also assisted with the high school football team for the Tigers. He also won the Missouri Wrestling Association Assistant Coach of the Year, while at Versailles. In 1999, Stahl moved to Marceline High School, where he taught seventh, eighth and ninth grade science. In addition to his teaching duties, he also coached high school and middle school wrestling programs. Assisting with the middle school football teams, sponsoring the FCA chapter, sponsoring the middle school science club as well as being a co-sponsor for the Students Against Drunk Driving chapter were among Stahl’s responsibilities at MHS. In 2000, Stahl was named the Missouri Wrestling Association Head Coach of the Year, after leading the Tigers to a fourth place team finish.
In 2002, Stahl joined the administration of Versailles High School as Assistant Principal. Along with his administrative accomplishments, Stahl implemented and guided a new “Map Gap” instructional period for core subject areas, as well as aided in the development of a GED Option Diploma for decreasing dropout rates. For his efforts at VHS, he received the “Tiger Paw Award” at an annual staff appreciation banquet. In 2004, Stahl was named Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Plattsburg High School. Since arriving at PHS, Stahl has developed a district coaching evaluation process, implemented a Breakfast of Champions program for high school student-athletes mentoring to elementary students, as well as served as site manager for several MSHSAA activities. He has also served as a high school assistant football and wrestling coach for the Tigers. This school year, Stahl has also served as the MIAAA Northwest District Representative.
With a bachelors of science degree in Education from Missouri Valley College, Stahl earned a Masters of Education/Secondary Administration from William Woods University. He is currently completing Specialist in Education/Superintendant degree from Northwest Missouri State University.
Stahl will begin his duties in the MSHSAA office on July 1. He will replace Fred Binggeli, who is retiring this year.
