Held October 25, 2006

1.    Recommend that the final site schedule be changed for Friday to include the eight semifinal games and four third place games (12 total games) be played in one session beginning at 11:00 a.m. and every half hour with the final game beginning at 4:30 p.m. The four championship games would be played on Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m. and every half hour with the last game beginning at 12:30 p.m. Weather problems on Friday (complete cancellation) would move 12 games to Saturday (eight semifinal games and four championship games) and the elimination of third place games. In all weather related rescheduling scenarios, no games would start any earlier than 10:00 a.m. (approved)

2.    Recommend that the written criteria for hosting district and sectional tournament games state that it is an absolute requirement that the field have a softball distance fence (185 ft. – 235 ft. permanent or temporary) and that no baseball pitcher’s mound may be present with no exception. (approved)

3.    Recommend that an item be placed on the 2007 questionnaire to amend By-Law 325 that would allow sports that do not currently conduct a MSHSAA sanctioned district and state tournament series (Water Polo, Boys Volleyball, Boys Softball, Field Hockey, and Girls Lacrosse) to add one tournament to the current scheduling limitations available. (tabled for further study)

4.    Recommend that the MSHSAA submit a rules change proposal to the NFHS Softball Rules Committee that would prohibit pitchers from stepping back during their pitching motion to make the rule the same as other rule codes (ASA and NCAA). (approved)
