1. Recommend eliminating the 10 stroke maximum rule for district and state tournaments. (Approved)

2. Recommend expanding the possible district tournament dates to include the Monday prior to the State Tournament

and to use the Tuesday and Wednesday preceding the State Tournament as rain dates. (Denied)

3. Recommend changing the make-up of the qualifiers to the state golf tournaments by changing the number of entries

to the district tournament in Section 3-B-5 and the qualifiers in Section 3-C-1 and 2 of the MSHSAA Golf Manual

as follows:

NUMBER OF ENTRIES: Each school may enter a maximum of four players in team competition and would count all four scores for

the team total with no scores being thrown out for the team total. A school may enter less than four players for individual medalist

play only.

QUALIFIERS: Teams and individuals will qualify for the state meet as follows:

1. Teams: One team shall qualify from each district. When there is a team tie, for first place, the tie shall be broken using the

following criteria:

a. If two or more teams tie for first and daylight, weather or course restrictions permit; the teams shall play one additional hole,

counting the score of all four golfers.

b. If daylight, weather and/or course restrictions do not permit further play or if the teams are still tied after playing one

additional hole, the tie shall be broken by a scorecard playoff, starting with the #1 handicap hole, followed by the #2

handicap hole, etc. until there is no longer a tie using the score of all four golfers.

2. Individuals: The top 8 individuals, not on the state qualifying team, shall qualify for individual medalist play in the state

tournament. When there is a tie for the last individual qualifying position, all individuals tied shall qualify for the individual

medalist play in the state tournament. All members of a qualifying team shall also be qualified for medalist play in the state meet.

Any school qualifying 4 individual golfers will also compete in the team competition.

It is recommended that this proposal be discussed at the Area Meetings and be placed on the MSHSAA Annual

Questionnaire.

It is recommended that this proposal be placed on the MSHSAA Annual Questionnaire and possibly be discussed at

the Area Meetings. (Approved as Amended)

4. Recommend the best four first place teams based on district scores in relation to par would make up the first five

groups of four teeing off the first tee. The last four first place teams would make up the first five groups of four

teeing off the tenth tee. The best individual qualifiers would tee off the remaining tee times on the first tee and the

remaining individuals would tee off the remaining tee times on the tenth tee. (Approved)

5. Recommend coaches assigned to the following jobs should work both days: starters, starters table, recorders, score

tables and gallery passes. (Approved)

6. Recommend the elimination of entry fees for the state golf tournament as golf should be treated as any other sport

sponsored by the MSHSAA. (Denied)

7. Recommend raising the state golf tournament manager’s fee from $65.00 to $130.00. (Tabled)

8. Went on record in favor of each state qualifier receiving a commemorative bag tag and golf ball. (Approved)

9. Recommend the MSHSAA hire MGA rules officials to work both the boys and girls state tournaments. (Approved)
