MSHSAA is accepting sight reading selections for the following classifications and event types for the 2024 MSHSAA State Large Group Music Festivals.

Band Full Orchestra String Orchestra
Class 1 Class 1-4 (Class 5, 2nd Full) Class 1-4 (Class 5, 2nd String)
Class 3 Class 1-4 (Class 5, 3rd Full) Class 1-4 (Class 5, 3rd String)
Class 5    

Composition Criteria by event type and classification is available for viewing on the MSHSAA website (www.mshsaa.org) under the 'Music Activities' links Band Composition Criteria for Sight Reading and Sight Reading Composition Criteria for Orchestra (Full and String). Anyone interested in submitting selection(s) for consideration to be used must follow the criteria listed below.  Selections chosen will become the property of the Missouri State High School Activities Association.  A $400 stipend will be paid for each title selected.  Deadline to submit selection(s) is July 15, 2023   Inquiries for additional information should be sent to Davine Davis, Assistant Executive Director for Music Activities at the MSHSAA office.

General Requirements:

Conductor's Full Score Showing instrumentation of all parts as well as dynamic, tempo, articulation markings, all meter changes and rehearsal letters or numbers.  The score should be in its final format and ready for 'publication.
Individual Parts Should reflect all dynamic, tempo, articulation markings, all meter changes and rehearsal letters or numbers that are contained within the score.  These parts should be in final format and ready for 'publication'.
Format to Submit The conductor's score and individual parts should be submitted in PDF format and may be emailed to email@mshsaa.org; place Attention:  Davine Davis in the subject line.
Length of Work Selections should be approximately 2-3 minutes in length.
Recording of Work A recording of the work may be included but is not required.
