OSAGE BEACH -- At its regular-scheduled meeting Friday, the MSHSAA Board of Directors heard a presentation from representatives of St. Louis Public Schools and Vashon High School regarding violations of MSHSAA by-laws regarding the school’s boys basketball program.

At the meeting, the Board received the results of Vashon’s internal investigation and received self-reported violations of By-Law 102 with respect to monitoring and enforcement of By-Law 216, undue influence, while improperly certifying two students as eligible for the period of 2002-2006.

Further, the Board received a self-report for violations of By-Law 102 with respect to monitoring and enforcement of By-Law 238, residence and transfers, while improperly certifying three additional students as eligible for the period of 2003-2006.  School district representatives requested additional time to further review the findings of potential violations concerning one additional player during this time period.

The school and school district representatives also waived their procedural rights under By-Law 910 and By-Law 1025 for further appeals for the aforementioned violations and requested that the MSHSAA Board of Directors take further action and consider appropriate penalties at the Board’s next regularly-scheduled meeting, June 11.

No action was taken by the Board of Directors at Friday's hearing, which was heard in closed session due to discussion of personally-identifiable student information, protected by Federal privacy law.
